Citizens Bank of Oklahoma originally known as Bank of Commerce was founded in 1905 by Mr. J.B. Scarborough. In 1909 the bank was sold to Mr. Ed T. Kennedy. In 1922 the bank changed its name to National Bank of Commerce of Pawhuska. In 1935, National Bank of Commerce of Pawhuska purchased Citizens First Bank and merged the two banks and renamed itself National Bank of Commerce in Pawhuska. In 1990, Mr. Edmond T. Kennedy sold control of the bank to a group of Pawhuska investors and businessmen. In May 1991, the bank converted from a national banking charter to a state banking charter and the bank was renamed NBC Bank. In January 2003 control changed hands to its current ownership. In June 2004, the bank was renamed Citizens Bank of Oklahoma. In September of 2004, the bank opened a full service banking facility at 41st and Harvard in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In June 2013, the bank opened a loan production office and a deposit production office in Cleveland, Oklahoma.
